About The Conversion Atlas

Last updated: June 26, 2025

Who We Are

The Conversion Atlas is a free, web-based unit conversion tool built for anyone who needs fast, accurate conversions between metric, imperial, and other measurement systems. Our platform covers over 600 individual conversions across 16 categories including length, weight, temperature, volume, speed, time, data, pressure, energy, power, angle, frequency, fuel economy, density, and data rate.

Our Mission

Our mission is simple: provide the most accurate, fastest, and cleanest unit conversion experience on the web. We believe that utility tools should respect your time and your privacy. That is why The Conversion Atlas runs entirely in your browser — no server-side computation, no data collection, no accounts, and no cluttered interfaces.

What Makes Us Different

  • Accuracy first. Every conversion uses the exact mathematical formula for its unit pair. We do not use rounded shortcuts or approximations.
  • Client-side only. All calculations happen in your browser using JavaScript. Nothing is sent to any server during a conversion.
  • No ads, no popups, no trackers. We do not serve third-party advertisements, analytics trackers, or intrusive pop-ups.
  • No sign-up required. Every tool on The Conversion Atlas is freely accessible without creating an account or providing any personal information.
  • Mobile-friendly. Our responsive design works seamlessly on phones, tablets, and desktops.

How It Works

The Conversion Atlas uses precise conversion factors defined by international standards (SI, imperial, US customary, and others). Each unit is stored with its factor relative to a base unit within its category. For linear conversions, the result is calculated by multiplying the input by the ratio of the source unit factor to the target unit factor.

Non-linear conversions such as temperature (Celsius, Fahrenheit, Kelvin) and fuel economy (mpg, L/100km) use dedicated conversion functions to ensure mathematical accuracy.

Our Team

The Conversion Atlas is developed and maintained by a small team of engineers and designers who are passionate about building clean, useful web tools. We are committed to keeping the platform free and accessible to everyone.
